Message	on both of my 1994's. Last time I had my car smoged the guy gave me a hard time about the down pipes not being legal, what could I say? He told me he could not get a hold of the ref. so he just passed me. I did not go back there. Then the next time I went two guys were looking under and and above my car with a light and mirror. They told me they were looking for two cats because one book showed two cats and one book showed four cats. They also passed me. So to help pass the visual. What I did was the last set of down pipes I installed, I glass bead blasted them, ya that hurt. No more pretty polished down pipes, but they are a very nice flat grey color now and they look much more stock. Mind you I always pass the sniff test because I install the stock mid pipes. Its just the visual they complane about...you gota love California. That and I live in an enhanced smog test area. But one last word on the down pipes (and 3" exhaust) are one of the best mods you can install and they fit great. Plus if you have a problem SpecialtyZ will take care of you.
